Hesham H Ali
University of Nebraska at Omaha
United States

Brief Bio
Hesham H. Ali is a Professor of Computer Science and the Lee and Wilma Seaman Distinguished Dean of the College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T), at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). He currently serves as the director of the UNO Bioinformatics Core Facility that supports a large number of biomedical research projects in Nebraska. He is currently serving as the PI or Co-PI of several projects funded by NSF, NIH and Nebraska Research Initiative (NRI) in the areas of data analytics, wireless networks and Bioinformatics. He has been leading a Research Group at UNO that focuses on developing innovative computational approaches to classify biological organisms and analyze big bioinformatics data. The research group is currently developing several next generation data analysis tools for mining various types of large-scale biological data. This includes the development of new graph theoretic models for assembling short reads obtained from high throughput instruments, as well as employing a novel correlation networks approach for analyzing large heterogeneous biological data associated with various biomedical research areas, particularly projects associated with aging and infectious diseases. He has also been leading two funded projects for developing secure and energy-aware wireless infrastructure to address tracking and monitoring problems in medical environments, particularly to study mobility profiling for healthcare research. ... Ning Deng
Zhejiang University

Brief Bio
Dr. Ning Deng is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Biomedical Engineering and Instrument Science, Zhejiang University, and an assistant researcher of UCLA-BD2K National Bigdata Research Center of USA, mainly engaged in the research of intelligent intervention technology for chronic diseases and health management. From 2007 to 2010, he engaged in research work in the BD2K National Bigdata Research Center of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). As the main designer of the NIH key research program project "Knowledgebase of Cardiac Proteome Atlas (CopaKB)", he built the largest knowledge base of cardiac proteome profiling and network information analysis platform in the world, and won the "Young Scholar Academic Award of International Human Proteome Organization (HUPO)". Since 2012, Dr. Deng has presided over and participated in a number of National Key R&D Program Projects and National Natural Science Foundation projects of China. A home-based rehabilitation method for COPD patients using portable equipment has been authorized as patent to Dr. Deng. The closed-loop management information system for COPD and the eHealth intervention path technology of chronic disease have been applied in the large-scale application demonstration project of chronic disease sustainable management in Ningxia Province and the regional chronic disease management cooperation network in Zhejiang Province. Dr. Deng has published over 30 papers. A total of 5 patents have been declared (including 2 authorized and 3 open for review), and 12 software copyrights have been obtained. ... More >>
