Brief Bio
Prof. Dr. Abdel-Badeeh M Salem is a Professor of Computer Science since 1989 at Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences , Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He is a professor emeritus since October 2007 . He was a Director of Scientific Computing Center at Ain Shams University (1984-1990). His research includes intelligent computing, expert systems, biomedical informatics, and intelligent e-learning technologies. He has published around 300 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings in these areas. He has been involved in more than 300 conferences and workshops as a plenary speaker, member of International Program Committees , workshop/invited session organizer and Session Chair. He is author and co-author of 15 Books in English and Arabic Languages. He was one of the founders of the following events, First Egyptian Workshop on Expert Systems 1987, Int. Cairo Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications in 1992 and Int. Conf. on Intelligent Computing and Information Systems 2002, and one of the main sustainers of annual Int. Romanian Internet Learning Workshop Project (RILW), 1997. In addition he was Secretary of Egyptian Computer Society (1984-1990), Member of National Committee in Informatics – Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (1992-200), Member of Egyptian Committee in the Inter-Governmental Informatics Program, IIP-UNISCO, Paris (1988-1990) and Coordinator of the Annual International Conference for Statistics, Scientific Computing, and Social and Demographic Research (1983-1990). In addition he was a partner of a MEDCAMPUS Projects on Methodologies and Technologies for Distance Education in Mediterranean (1993-1995). In addition He is a Member of the Editorial Board of 50 international and national Journals in the following countries: Canada; Italy, Romania, Japan, Turkey, UK and Egypt. Also, He is member of many Int. Scientific Societies and associations in USA, UK, Switzerland, Austria, Canada and Egypt. Recently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Bio-Medical Informatics and e-Health (IJBMIeH), Egyptian Computer Science Journal (ECSJ) and Associate Editor of International Journal of Applications of Fuzzy Sets and Artificial Intelligence (IJAFSAI).

Brief Bio
Valérie Monfort is an Assistant Professor, University of Paris1 Panthéon Sorbonne France and researcher in LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201. Before starting an academic carrier she works for 20 years in industry as an architect for big companies as: IBM, Airbus, Bouygues Telecom, BNP, MMAetc. Her research topics are Web semantics, context, MDD, SOA, social networks and BPI.


Bioinformatics is the science of managing, mining, and interpreting information from biological data. The ongoing influx of these data, the inherent uncertainties in data collection processes, and the gap between data collection and knowledge curation have collectively created exciting opportunities for data mining researchers. Moreover, Computational neuroscience is the study of brain function in terms of the information processing properties of the structures that make up the nervous system.
Web Intelligence (WI) explores the fundamental roles, interactions as well as practical impacts of Artificial Intelligence engineering and Advanced Information Technology on the next generation of Web systems. Here AI-engineering is a general term that refers to a new area, slightly beyond traditional AI: brain informatics, human level AI, intelligent agents, social network intelligence and classical areas such as knowledge engineering, representation, planning, discovery and data mining are examples. Advanced Information Technology includes wireless networks, ubiquitous devices, social networks, and data/knowledge grids, as well as cloud computing, service oriented architecture.
We propose in this Special Session to combine these domains to improve solutions. WIB 2014 is a Special Session joint to BIOSTEC 2014 (http://www.biostec.org/). This Special Session edition provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to present results, applications, and experiences in joint domains of Web Intelligence and Bioinformatics.

The Special Session welcomes three types of submissions:
1. Full papers describing novel ideas on recent trends in joint domains of Web Intelligence and Bioinformatics at practical or theoretical levels. The maximum length of a full paper is 10 pages.
2. Position papers describing work in progress or an author’s position regarding the recent practice of Web Intelligence and/or its future trends. The maximum length of a position paper is 4 pages.
3. Demo papers describing practical in joint domains of Web Intelligence and Bioinformatics application/prototype. The maximum length of a demo paper is 4 pages. It is expected that the authors of the paper will showcase their application in public.

Instructions for preparing manuscripts (in Word and Latex format) are available at the BIOSTEC web site (http://www.biostec.org/). Papers should be submitted through the online submission system.
All papers will be reviewed on the basis of relevance, clarity and technical quality. At least one author should attend the Special Session to present the paper.

Papers will be published in a special issue of an indexed journal (to be defined).
